DSL PPPoE and firewall issue

When a modem does a PPPoE connection there is no need for the firewall router to be configure for doing a PPPoE connection.

All you need to do is set the firewall router WAN setting to use DHCP.

    Yes DSL modem is the one should make the PPPoE call for DSL Internet connection. I have no idea why a switch like D-Link switch with 5 Ethernet ports designed with configuration menu to make the PPPoE call for DSL Internet connection, it causes confusion to users, if PPPoE call is already done by the modem, then don’t use the switch behind the modem to make PPPoE call again, that will cause problems, or you won’t get DSL Internet connection at all. the switch behind DSL modem should be configured to provide DHCP dynamic IP address to computers connected to the switch.
